We’re on the hunt for a skilled Complex Fraud Investigator to join our Counter Fraud Services team, based in either Salford Quays, Manchester or Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

In this role, you’ll be part of our Complex Fraud Team, reporting into the CFS Technical Lead. You’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of claims, including organised fraud rings, non-jurisdiction (Scotland and Northern Ireland) organised fraud, high-value, and professional enabler cases, all requiring a sharp eye and strategic thinking.

Working flexibly, you\’ll spend the 6 weeks in the office full-time for training and support, then hybrid begins with 4 days at home and 1 day in the office – if you prefer to be in the office more – that\’s good with us too.

What\’s Involved:

  • You’ll handle a caseload of potential fraud risks within the CFS SLA’s, FCA regulations, and legislative and policy guidelines.
  • You’ll proactively seek positive outcomes that act as a deterrent to committing fraud against the business.
  • You’ll proactively seek the root cause of the fraud.
  • You’ll develop CFS strategies to proactively investigate potential fraud risks.
  • Your caseload will include desk-top handling, with direct interaction with policyholders, third parties and witnesses; extending to incorporate telephone-based interviews and written communications, and the appointment of external specialists to include investigators, law firms and motor engineers
  • You’ll liaise with external agencies, attend industry conferences and seminars
  • You’ll produce high quality written reports and advice for the business, to include recommendations.
  • You’ll help to manage the relationship with FCIM panel of service providers including law firms and investigators
  • You’ll provide advice and support to business areas and CFS with regard to potential fraud risks.
  • You’ll act as a mentor for Fraud Investigators and as a technical referral point.
  • You’ll ensure claim files are reserved accurately and reserves amended where required
  • You’ll meet agreed fraud KPI’s and targets.

Experience & knowledge

  • You’ve strong motor claims and policy experience.
  • You’ve a proven track record in claims fraud investigation, to include organised motor fraud.
  • You’ve excellent knowledge of processes and tactics used to investigate and manage insurance fraud, and a solid understanding of relevant fraud related legislation.
  • You’ve excellent knowledge of FCA requirements (including TCF) and the regulatory framework relating to general insurance.
  • You’ve a sound understanding of all aspects of motor insurance.

Skills& Qualifications

  • You’re a great communicator, both verbal and written, with the skills to influence and negotiate
  • Organisation, timekeeping and prioritisation are second nature to you
  • You’re analytical and have problem-solving skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach to resolving problems
  • You’ve got great customer service skills. After all our customers are key!
  • You’ve got strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • You’re not fazed by computers and software. Competent in Microsoft applications, particularly Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Desktop fraud investigation, to include telephone interviews
  • You can appoint and manage external fraud service providers
  • You’ve excellent report production skills
