This role involves being a senior team member responsible for developing best-in-class Claims Insight. You will manage the crucial link between frontline operational claims, pricing, underwriting, reserving, and external stakeholders, using data to inform past and future business results. The Claims Insight Delivery Manager will apply their extensive understanding of actuarial techniques to inform reserving projections and impacts on the 5-year plan. Developing talent is important to us, so you’ll play a vital role in mentoring junior team members within the Performance Function and supporting their development.
Core skills required:- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to present to executive-level audiences
- Experience with SAS, SQL, or similar programs
- Knowledge of actuarial methodologies, especially claims reserving
- Deliver regular reports on current and future claims indemnity performance to support monthly and quarterly executive reporting
- Analyze performance trends, identify inconsistencies, and highlight opportunities in line with executive priorities
- Build and maintain data models (primarily using SAS), utilizing various data sources to develop insights into claims performance across the balanced scorecard
- Present and visualize analysis clearly, providing insightful commentary with actionable recommendations for the executive team
- Collaborate with operational teams to make recommendations that improve indemnity performance and ensure follow-through
- Mentor and develop Claims Insight analysts, especially in SAS capabilities
- Work with Finance to track and demonstrate benefits across expenses, income, and indemnity
- Engage with industry benchmarking providers to gather granular data for performance evaluation and KPI setting
- Support forecasting of claims inflation impacts from internal and external factors
- Represent the Claims Insight Manager in key stakeholder meetings
- Assist the wider Performance team as needed, leveraging your skills to meet business needs
- Proven experience in data mining, transformation, synthesis, and reporting using SAS, SQL, and other modeling tools
- Experience using data and insights to understand claims indemnity performance
- Ability to lead performance discussions and recommend improvements based on data insights
- Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, including managing difficult conversations
- Team-oriented mindset, focused on shared objectives
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and comprehensively
