Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic looking for your next opportunity in a fast-paced aviation environment? We are currently recruiting for an HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop team supporting a fleet of aviation ground support equipment, HGVs and commercial vehicles operating at Heathrow Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to work within the aviation sector, maintaining essential vehicles that keep airport operations moving safely and efficiently.
About the Role
As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing and testing a range of HGV and light commercial vehicles in accordance with Department for Transport (DfT), manufacturer and Heathrow Airport standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV and light commercial vehicles
- Prepare and present HGV and non-HGV vehicles for annual MOT inspections
- Conduct periodic safety inspections in line with VOSA standards
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
- Complete welding, fabrication and body repairs where required
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and carry out repairs to minimise operational downtime
- Complete maintenance records and workshop documentation accurately
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment
Safety & Compliance

- Comply with aviation security requirements

- Maintain a safe and secure working environment

Essential Requirements
- Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and light commercial vehicles
- City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- Experience diagnosing hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
- Flexible and service-focused attitude
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable and punctual approach to work
- Ability to work varied shift patterns
- Physically fit and able to pass an Airside Driving Medical
- Able to provide a 5-year checkable employment history
