Buyer in Ipswich

We have an exciting opportunity to work for a nationally recognised manufacturing business, considered to be the leader in its field. Pay rates from £26,436 per annum, increasing after a three month probationary period. The role of Buyer is based in Ipswich.

Shifts for Buyer:

• 07:30 to 16:00
• Monday to Friday

Pay :

• £26,436 pa
• Increases after successful completion of three months probation

Main Duties of Buyer:

• Raising and managing purchase orders through our MRP system.
• Chasing suppliers and monitoring delivery dates, shortages and long-lead components.
• Obtaining quotations and sourcing electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts and other production materials.
• Reviewing supplier acknowledgements and checking prices and delivery dates.
• Matching supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods received.
• Investigating price, quantity and invoice discrepancies and requesting credit notes where required.
• Working closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Goods In and Accounts.
• Helping source alternative/equivalent electronic components when parts are obsolete, unavailable or on long lead times.

Experience and skills required:

• Previous purchasing/buying experience and good attention to detail
• Knowledge of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes, transistors, relays and connectors would be particularly valuable
• Comfortable working with manufacturer part numbers, datasheets and component specifications
• Experience with purchase invoice matching, supplier queries and ERP/MRP systems would be beneficial
• Organised, proactive, accurate and confident dealing directly with suppliers
• Good communication and IT skills
