Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm | 1 in 3 Saturdays, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Role Purpose

Responsible for the day-to-day operational, commercial, and financial management of the Avonmouth branch. The Branch Manager will lead, motivate, and manage the branch team to ensure optimal sales performance, profit margins, and strict operational compliance. You will drive local business growth, build strong customer relationships, and enforce company policies to deliver exceptional customer service while meeting agreed KPIs and targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Branch Operations & Leadership
    • Exercise full operational control over the branch, overseeing daily workflow, staffing coverage, and resource management.
    • Manage, lead, and motivate branch personnel to hit operational targets and high standards of performance.
    • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development in alignment with company policies and UK employment law.
    • Lead local HR and performance management procedures, including appraisals, discipline, grievances, and succession planning.
    • Ensure full compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly operational scorecards and compliance workbooks.
  • Sales, Commercial & Financial Performance
    • Take ownership of the branch Profit & Loss (P&L), working closely with the sales team to hit monthly sales, margin, and contribution targets.
    • Assess local market conditions to identify new prospective sales opportunities and expand the local customer base.
    • Implement commercial strategies to optimise productivity, promote over-the-counter sales, and drive growth across truck and trailer product lines.
    • Manage cash control and payment systems safely and in accordance with company governance.
  • Supply Chain, Stock & Fleet Management
    • Oversee stock control procedures, ensuring inventory targets are met, stock cleanses/transfers are handled efficiently, and incoming deliveries are processed correctly.
    • Ensure customer imprest stock checks are carried out accurately and on schedule.
    • Oversee the efficient deployment of branch drivers and store-persons, ensuring full productivity during periods of low delivery activity.
    • Guarantee all branch delivery vehicles meet Road Traffic Act regulations and internal safety standards, ensuring daily checks are logged and actioned.
  • Customer Service & Quality Standards
    • Ensure the branch consistently meets and exceeds both Head Office and local customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
    • Manage incoming call volume and over-the-counter interactions to promote part sales and deliver high customer satisfaction.
    • Maintain a secure, safe working environment for all staff and visitors in compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven track record in Branch Management with demonstrated success in driving sales, managing P&L, and improving profit margins.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confident understanding of HR procedures, performance management, and recruitment practices.
  • Commercial acumen with strong forecasting, sales planning, and cost management capabilities.
  • Solid experience managing stock control, fleet vehicles, and workplace Health & Safety.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong phone manner and professional presence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and standard operating software.
  • Holds a valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility to work required Saturday shift patterns (1 in 3) and occasional overnight stays if required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of commercial truck and trailer parts or the wider automotive/FMCG distribution sector.
