Location: Syston, Leicester

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 to 16:30 with a 30-minute unpaid break

Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading full-service logistics provider specialising in contract packing, warehousing and distribution. With over 300,000 sq ft of operational space, they deliver tailored solutions including gift packing, food packing, e-commerce fulfilment, pick and pack and labelling across industries such as retail, fashion and cosmetics. They are now seeking a Warehouse Stock Controller to join their team in Syston. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining exceptional stock accuracy and integrity across warehouse operations.

Job Purpose

The Stock Controller is responsible for ensuring the highest level of stock accuracy within the warehouse. This role involves physical stock counting, investigating discrepancies and acting as a key escalation point for stock-related operational issues. You will play a vital role in maintaining and improving stock control processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stock Control and Accuracy
    • Conduct regular physical stock counts including cycle counts and perpetual inventory counts
    • Reconcile physical stock with system records and investigate discrepancies
    • Support annual and ad-hoc stock takes
    • Ensure all stock adjustments are accurate, authorised and fully auditable
  • Stock Investigation and Query Management
    • Investigate stock variances, damages, losses and unexplained movements
    • Manage and resolve stock-related queries from internal stakeholders
    • Identify root causes of stock issues and implement corrective actions
  • Operational Escalation and Support
    • Act as the main escalation point for stock integrity issues
    • Identify risks within daily warehouse operations that could impact stock accuracy
    • Collaborate with operational teams to resolve issues and prevent reoccurrence
    • Provide clear updates on stock trends, issues and resolutions
  • Process Control and Compliance
    • Maintain and enforce stock control procedures
    • Monitor compliance across warehouse functions including goods in, picking, packing, returns and adjustments
    • Challenge non-compliance constructively and support process improvements

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in a stock control role within a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems
  • Knowledge of end-to-end stock control processes and operational impact on stock accuracy
  • Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies with a root cause approach
  • Strong Excel skills with confidence analysing data

What Our Client Is Looking For

Our client is looking for someone who goes beyond basic stock management – a proactive individual who understands the wider operational impact of stock control and can help drive improvements to prevent issues before they arise.

This role will receive a salary of £23,809.50 plus an FLT/MHE uplift (if in possession of a valid licence; our client will need to see certificates as proof).
