About the Role
My client is seeking a skilled and proactive Engineer to join their engineering team at a busy manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient site operations by delivering high-quality engineering support across planned and reactive maintenance activities. This is a hands-on role working across manufacturing areas, site facilities and utilities where you will help maintain plant reliability, reduce downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment, facilities and utilities
- Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production efficiently
- Perform corrective maintenance activities across both low care and high care production areas
- Ensure all work is completed in line with GMP standards and company hygiene procedures
- Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations and site engineering standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Diagnose faults and independently resolve engineering issues in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate engineering logs, reports and maintenance records
- Assist with organisation and control of engineering stores and spare parts availability
- Support external contractors on site ensuring safe working practices are followed
- Maintain engineering tools equipment and work areas in a safe clean and organised condition
- Communicate effectively with production teams and engineering colleagues to ensure smooth operations
- Attend production and engineering meetings as required to support operational planning
Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG engineering environment
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks
- Good understanding of health and safety and GMP standards
- Confident working independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast paced environment
- Experience working in food production or high care environments (desirable)
- Electrical or mechanical engineering background (desirable)
- Exposure to PPM systems and maintenance reporting tools (desirable)
- Experience liaising with production teams and external contractors (desirable)
