Job Type: Temp to Perm
Working Pattern: 3 days per week initially, with flexibility around working days

The Role

My client is a well-established specialist business within the carpet and flooring industry, working with a range of rugs and carpets. They are looking for a motivated and reliable Workshop Operative to join their small and friendly team on a temp-to-perm basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills within a specialist workshop and warehouse environment. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided.

You will initially work 3 days per week while completing your training, with the working days flexible between Monday and Friday. Once fully trained and settled into the role, the position will move into a full-time permanent position.

As part of your training, you will learn how to operate a carpet overlocking machine, alongside carrying out general warehouse and workshop duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general warehouse and workshop duties and assist with the day-to-day running of the operation

  • Load, unload and move carpets, rugs and other materials safely

  • Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting as required

  • Prepare and organise materials for production and customer orders

  • Learn to operate a carpet overlocking machine following full training

  • Ensure products and materials are handled carefully and stored correctly

  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment

  • Work effectively as part of a small and supportive team

  • Follow all health and safety procedures and company guidelines

  • Support colleagues with general warehouse and operational tasks

  • Complete any other reasonable duties required by management

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • No previous warehouse experience is required – full training will be provided

  • An interest in rugs and carpets would be highly desirable

  • Comfortable with regular heavy lifting and manual handling

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role

  • Able to work effectively as part of a small team

  • Good attention to detail

  • Practical and hands‑on approach to work

  • Comfortable working in a warehouse and workshop environment

  • Genuine enthusiasm to learn about the products and specialist processes involved

What We Are Looking For

My client is looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and genuinely interested in rugs and carpets. The successful candidate does not need previous experience, but must be willing to learn, comfortable with physical work and keen to develop their skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long‑term position with the potential to become permanent, with the added benefit of specialist training and an increase in pay once training has been successfully completed.
