General Assistant - Glasgow Airport
First Call Contract Services is recruiting General Assistants to support a busy aviation catering operation at Glasgow Airport.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within the aviation industry, helping ensure that food, catering supplies and equipment are prepared, organised and ready for delivery to airline customers in line with operational schedules.
Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour
Typical shifts include:
- Early: 06:00-14:30
- Late: 13:30-22:00
- Night: 21:30-06:00
Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, you will be allocated to one of the following departments, depending on operational requirements:
Production
- Preparing and plating food.
- Handling and organising packaged food products.
- Packing amenity kits and flight condiments.
Equipment
- Stacking and organising shelves.
- Rotating stock to ensure correct stock rotation.
- Monitoring stock levels and reordering dry goods when required.
Wash
- Carrying out general cleaning duties.
- Removing and disposing of waste appropriately.
- Washing airline catering equipment in line with required industry standards.
Search and Seal
- Inspecting goods to ensure prohibited items are not present.
- Checking stock for damage.
- Completing relevant paperwork accurately.
Please note that these duties are not exhaustive, and additional responsibilities may be required depending on the department and operational needs.
Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be comfortable handling pork and alcohol products.
- Be physically able to stand for extended periods and have good mobility.
- Be comfortable working in a chilled environment.
- Have a basic understanding of English.
- Be reliable, hardworking and able to follow instructions.
- Be willing to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
