About the Role - PSV/HGV Mechanic

Do you want to be part of our energetic team of HGV/PSV engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses? If yes, then this Skilled Mechanic position at our Weymouth depot could just be the job for you! It offers technical up‑skilling with the potential to gain experience working on our state‑of‑the‑art electric vehicles and plenty of career progression.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using hand‑held data capture devices if applicable
  • Attend on‑road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries
  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

Location: Weymouth

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, working 5 days over 7 on a rotation of early and late shifts

Pay: £16.76 p/h (£33,989 p/a) – with a shift payment of £14.53 per day over 5 days, equalling around a potential additional £3,000 per year

About You

  • A minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e., City & Guilds Level 1&2)
  • Ability to multi‑skill within an Engineering Environment
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • A full driving licence is essential, a PCV licence would be beneficial
