Do you want to be part of our energetic team of HGV/PSV/bus mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses? If yes, then this Skilled Mechanic position at our Norwich depot could just be the job for you! It offers technical up-skilling and career progression, and you'll also get the chance to work on our state of the art electric vehicles. We'll provide your overalls and all the basic tools and equipment needed for you to be successful in your role. For helping keep our fleet on the road, you'll earn a good hourly pay rate with premiums, and great rewards & benefits.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
- Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
- Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using hand held data capture devices if applicable
- Vehicle fault diagnostics, servicing and repairs in accordance with First Bus Standard Engineering Operating Procedures
- To fully comply with all HS&E legislation along with Group Policies
- To fully comply with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain and develop technical skills as required
Location: Norwich, Roundtree Way, NR7 8SQ
Working Hours: 39 hours per week, 5 days over 7 on a rota of early and late shifts, including weekends (shifts can be discussed at interview)
Pay: £20.12 per hour, unsociable hours and weekend premium rates available - potential to earn an extra £4000 (or more) per year! Pay increase due Sept 2026 also.
About You:
- A minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e. City & Guilds Level 1&2)
- Ability to multi-skill within an Engineering Environment
- A flexible approach to working hours
- A PCV licence is desirable, a full driving licence is essential
