We have a fantastic opportunity for a Coaching Director (Yorkshire) to join us on a full-time permanent basis. As a statutory Director for York Pullman Group and subsidiaries, the Coaching Director (Yorkshire) is accountable for creating, executing, delivering and monitoring the performance of all business plans to deliver against their associated financial targets; and through effective and inspirational leadership and stakeholder management, they will ensure the needs of customers, colleagues, business partners, stakeholders including relevant local authorities and investors are met.
In addition to driving performance delivery within York Pullman Group, the Coaching Director (Yorkshire) is accountable for driving growth and customer satisfaction across Yorkshire operations, including ensuring that the operation is legally compliant and the workplace is fully inclusive.
A key element of the role will be to lead on the adoption of York Pullman Group and supporting First Bus policies and working practices into any new acquisitions in the Yorkshire area, whilst also ensuring that any more efficient or profitable experiences from within the new acquisition are adopted by the York Pullman Group and recommended for adoption across the coach division to the Managing Director.
Key Accountabilities- Execution of the York Pullman Group and wider First Bus strategy within the Coaching/B2B sector, using vision and business objectives to deliver the required overall business results, ensuring local strategies and plans drive the required customer and community outcomes.
- Full P&L accountability for York Pullman Group, ensuring all budget targets are met and, where possible, exceeded to meet with First Bus stretch targets, through increasing revenue opportunities in line with the commercial strategies and targets; whilst ensuring cost effective expenditure.
- Establish, develop and lead the local leadership team, ensuring they are capable of executing the strategy and delivering on the business targets; whilst creating an effective culture that distinguishes York Pullman Group positively from its competitors.
- Through coaching and the provision of clear leadership and direction, drive high performance and achieve 'zero-harm' safety initiatives, financial and commercial targets, improved operational standards, engineering excellence, customer service targets and, people metrics; alongside fleet efficiency.
- Working with the Managing Director of the Coaching Division and the Fleet Manager-UK Bus to plan vehicle requirements including new vehicle specifications, cascades and disposals.
- Drive the right commercial strategies and lead and execute the effective delivery of business change programmes.
- Represent York Pullman Group, as required, including attendance of important presentations, functions, industry events and public meetings.
- Develop and deliver effective partnerships with local and regional stakeholders to deliver on business growth strategies.
- Fully support corporate and local compliance programmes including ethics, modern slavery, safety and sustainability.
- Effectively manage the strategic workforce development, talent and succession planning agenda to attract, develop, and retain a diverse team of high performing individuals required to deliver against current and future resource requirements.
- Hold responsibility for Industrial Relations activity, including negotiations on T&Cs and pay changes.
- Actively champion an inclusive and supportive working environment and drive the delivery of all local Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and employee wellbeing plans and adherence to KPIs and associated reporting.
- Through effective collaboration, share and embrace best practice across York Pullman Group to drive high performance, efficiency and effectiveness, through driving and embedding standard processes, systems and continuous improvement.
- Identify, develop and submit business case requests, in line with First Bus and York Pullman Group standards.
- An established senior leader / Director with demonstrable P&L experience and a proven track record in delivering strong business performance and growth through high performing teams.
- Experience of leading cultural and operational transformation; and business change to deliver commercial outcomes.
- Experience of leading in the coaching, private hire or logistics sector.
- A background in business management, strategic planning, budgeting and human resources management is vital alongside experience in marketing, sales and product development.
- Highly commercial with the ability to grasp all key aspects of company performance spanning operations, engineering, commercial, finance, business growth, political and environmental issues and customer service.
- Experience of leading diverse teams in a customer service industry.
- Understanding of safety and regulatory issues and experience of working in a higher risk environment.
- Must hold or be prepared to hold a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence, preferably the International version.
