Our client is looking to appoint a motivated and customer-driven Business Development Manager to join their expanding team. Working within a fast-moving environment, the role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities while maintaining a high standard of service via telephone, email and face-to-face contact. The position supports clients across the agricultural, construction and commercial sectors and provides essential administrative and operational support to the wider sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively identify and approach prospective clients through cold calling and outreach activity
- Oversee new customer accounts during the first three months before transferring them to the sales team
- Create, issue and chase quotations, ensuring customer orders are processed efficiently
- Work closely with internal sales colleagues to ensure effective lead progression and handover
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- Analyse market and sales data to highlight trends and potential growth areas
- Keep accurate records including call activity, sales reports and customer information
- Liaise with couriers and freight providers to address delivery or logistics-related queries
- Provide administrative support, including document preparation, invoicing and data input
- Attend and represent the business at trade shows and industry events across the UK and Europe
- Travel throughout the UK and Ireland for client meetings when required
Key Skills
- Previous experience in a customer-facing sales or business development position
- Proven ability to generate new business through cold calling and lead generation
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident and professional communicator, particularly by telephone
- Able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
- Competent user of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Background in B2B sales, telesales, area sales or account development is beneficial
- Knowledge of the agriculture, construction or commercial sectors would be advantageous
The business operates a seasonal working pattern, with 40 hours per week during the summer period and 34 hours per week during the winter period. Salary is calculated based on an average of 37 hours per week.
