Hours: Permanent, 36.5 hours per week
Early Shift:
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
- Friday: 6:00am - 10:30am

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Milling Setter / Operator to join a growing aerospace manufacturing business in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to work within a precision engineering environment, producing high-quality components while developing their skills within a well-established organisation.
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Milling Setter / Operator:
- Set and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components.
- Read, interpret and edit CNC programmes where required.
- Understand CNC code to the level required for machine set-up and operation.
- Set machine datums, tool lengths and wear offsets to ensure accurate machining.
- Prepare machines with the correct workholding, tooling and fixtures.
- Manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings, job cards and company procedures.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, efficiency and productivity targets are achieved.
- Carry out in-process inspections to maintain product quality.
- Work safely and maintain high housekeeping standards within the manufacturing environment.
- Support continuous improvement activities where appropriate.
Key Skills of a CNC Milling Setter / Operator:
- Previous experience working within an aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing environment.
- At least three years' experience in a similar CNC Milling Setter / Operator role.
- Experience setting and operating Heidenhain CNC milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming, machine set-up and tooling.
- Ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality components.
- A proactive approach with good problem-solving skills.
