Tool Room Engineer

Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Thursday 7.30 – 16.30, Friday 7.30 – 12.30

Job purpose

We are looking for a Tool Room Engineer to join the Tool Room, Facilities and Mould Shop department. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to all areas of Production and Mould Shop, set up and operate equipment including CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Grinders and tool room machining equipment.

Key Responsibilities of a Tool Room Engineer:

  • Maintain injection mould tooling on a daily basis.
  • Manufacture and fit quality parts for production jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Inspect parts visually or using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Perform tool, jig, and fixture repair and maintenance, both preventative and responsive.
  • Ensure quality of work meets required standards and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Develop and work with a preventative maintenance schedule compliant with ISO13485.
  • Support the Tool Room Manager and the daily production team as required.
  • Follow the requirements of the quality system and inform the Quality team of any quality-related issues.
  • Maintain systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 13485, and IVD regulations, including good documentation practices.

Key Skills of a Tool Room Engineer:

  • HNC|HND in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in plastic injection mould tooling, ideally in the pharmaceutical, medical, or biopharmaceutical industry, though candidates from other industries will also be considered (automotive, aerospace, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/workshop tooling environment.
  • Machining experience capable of high-tolerance work.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • CNC experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as individually.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills.
