Location: Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

Hours: Minimum 37.5 hours per week, working 5 shifts Monday - Saturday on a rota basis. Shift start times are 05:15 and 13:30, with finish times dependent on production demands. Candidate must be flexible to work both early and late shifts, with patterns based on production requirements rather than fixed weekly rotations. Saturday shifts may also be required.

Salary: Starting salary of £15.05 per hour, increasing with training up to £15.96 per hour

Key Responsibilities of a Lead Operative:

  • Lead, support and motivate a team of operatives within a busy production environment
  • Become knowledgeable across all production lines under supervision to provide hands‑on support and guidance
  • Work as part of the supervisory team to uphold and exceed quality standards
  • Ensure all production records and paperwork are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Report maintenance, quality or production issues promptly and accurately
  • Maintain high hygiene, housekeeping and health & safety standards across operations
  • Support continuous production output whilst maintaining customer and quality expectations
  • Undertake a physically active, hands‑on role including manual handling duties

Key Skills of a Lead Operative:

  • Previous experience as a Line Leader or Team Leader within a busy production or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Food production, dairy or FMCG experience advantageous
  • Knowledge of HACCP beneficial but not essential
  • Reliable, proactive and adaptable with a hands‑on approach
  • Able to work flexibly to meet production demands
