Our client is looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their warehouse operation. This is a varied role managing the warehouse team, stock, goods in and dispatch whilst driving improvements across productivity, accuracy and overall warehouse performance.
Key Responsibilities of a Warehouse Manager:
- Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operation including goods in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch
- Lead, manage and motivate the warehouse team to achieve operational targets
- Plan workloads, staffing and resources to meet daily business requirements
- Monitor warehouse KPIs including OTIF, picking accuracy, stock accuracy and dispatch performance
- Maintain accurate stock levels and locations, including regular PI counts
- Work closely with Stock Control to investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
- Ensure orders are picked, packed and dispatched accurately and on time
- Monitor warehouse performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity
- Ensure all warehouse procedures and health & safety requirements are followed
- Oversee forklift, machinery and equipment checks to ensure safe operation
- Train, develop and support warehouse employees including new starters and temporary staff
- Conduct appraisals and manage team performance
- Maintain accurate warehouse paperwork, records and system information
- Review and improve warehouse processes, systems and working practices
- Support the introduction of new technology and automation where appropriate
- Investigate and report accidents, near misses, damaged goods and operational issues
- Work closely with other departments to ensure an efficient flow of stock and information throughout the business
Key Skills of a Warehouse Manager:
- Previous experience as a Warehouse Manager or within a senior warehouse management position
- Proven experience leading, managing and developing warehouse teams
- Strong knowledge of goods in, goods out, stock control, picking and dispatch
- Experience monitoring warehouse KPIs and driving operational improvements
- Strong understanding of warehouse health & safety requirements
- Excellent organisational and workload planning skills
- Strong communication and people management skills
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
- Confident using warehouse management systems, scanners and computerised processes
- Ability to identify operational issues and implement practical solutions
- Hands-on and proactive approach to warehouse management
- Forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential
