Skilled Mechanical Fitter 7023

Location: Coleford, Gloucestershire
Hours: 37.5 / 38 hours per week
Salary: Competitive TBC
Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Skilled Mechanical Fitter to join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Coleford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly of pumps and the mechanical assembly of electric and diesel pump skid sets, working accurately from engineering drawings and bills of materials.

Key Responsibilities of a Skilled Mechanical Fitter:

  • Build bare shaft pumps to engineering drawings
  • Assemble diesel pump skid sets to engineering drawings and bills of materials
  • Assemble electric pump skid sets to engineering drawings and bills of materials
  • Complete relevant build and check sheets accurately
  • Identify assembly or quality issues and raise these with the appropriate Quality and Production teams
  • Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Contracts and suppliers to help resolve build issues
  • Communicate build progress, material availability and any issues with relevant teams
  • Ensure pumps and assemblies are correctly assembled to the required standard
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across projects and shifts
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team where required
  • Ensure tools and project materials are handled correctly and protected from damage
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping within the working environment

Key Skills of a Skilled Mechanical Fitter:

  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with at least 5 years' relevant experience OR
  • A minimum of 10 years' mechanical assembly experience
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings
  • Strong mechanical assembly and fitting skills
  • Logical and structured approach to work
  • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to work accurately and maintain high quality standards

The position is shop-floor based and there may be the possibility of shift working.
