First Achieve Engineering are supporting a key client in the recruitment of a Mechanical Technician. This role is central to delivering high-quality rotating equipment maintenance, repair and overhaul activities on a large industrial site. The position involves carrying out removal, strip-down, inspection, repair, rebuild, installation, and commissioning of a wide variety of rotating and mechanical equipment as part of both corrective and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out strip-down, inspection, repair, reassembly, and commissioning of rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, turbines, valves, and electric motors.
- Complete all required documentation including strip-down reports, rebuild records, dimensional checks, tolerances and clearance measurements.
- Follow technical method statements and be able to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Work in full compliance with site HSEQ procedures and safety systems.
- Participate in risk assessments, site inductions, toolbox talks, and follow permit-to-work requirements at all times.
- Report any safety concerns, near misses, incidents, or issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring the site and workshop are inspection-ready at all times.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working with rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, turbines, gearboxes, and valves.
- Ability to diagnose faults, collect and interpret data, and draw accurate conclusions.
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Positive, flexible, and self-motivated attitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using ERP or work-order systems beneficial.
Certificates & Licensing
- Safety Passport or equivalent site-safety certification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Valid Passport preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Must be medically fit for the role and willing to undertake drug and alcohol testing when required.
- Comfortable working overtime or responding to call-outs as operational needs dictate.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
