First Achieve Engineering Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established international engineering manufacturer operating within advanced industrial and materials processing. Due to sustained growth and ongoing projects, they are looking to strengthen their mechanical build team with the appointment of an experienced Mechanical Fitter.

About the Role

This position sits within a specialist assembly environment, working on complex, high-spec mechanical systems. You will be involved from build through to testing and, on occasion, on-site installation support.

Your Day-to-Day Will Include:

  • Assembling mechanical systems to engineering drawings and build specifications
  • Installing and connecting pipework and components across multiple systems, including: Water and cooling circuits (manifolds, pump skids, interconnections), Pneumatic pipework and air systems, Vacuum pipework and associated components, Inert gas lines using stainless steel materials
  • Working with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and copper
  • Carrying out mechanical fault finding and rectification
  • Inspecting parts and assemblies to ensure quality and compliance
  • Completing vacuum and pressure testing (full training provided)
  • Supporting installation and repair work at customer sites when required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Time-served/apprenticeship-trained Mechanical Fitter
  • Background in mechanical assembly, industrial machinery or heavy engineering
  • Comfortable working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills

Additional Skills (Advantageous, Not Essential):

  • Brazing experience
  • Basic welding capability
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Forklift or scissor lift licence
  • Confined space training
