Installation & Commissioning EngineerAs an Installation & Commissioning Engineer, you\âll play a key role in supporting the build, installation, testing, and servicing of complex furnace systems. You\âll supervise on-site installation contractors, lead the commissioning and acceptance testing of equipment, and ensure all systems are fully operational to customer specifications.
This role offers the chance to develop specialist skills in advanced thermal processing technology and work with state-of-the-art electrical, mechanical, and control systems across global sites.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise on-site installation teams and contractors during equipment installation.
Carry out commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of complex vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnace systems.
Perform electrical and mechanical fault-finding, maintenance, and system calibration.
Work with pneumatic, hydraulic, water-cooling, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
Interpret and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Interface with PLCs, HMIs, temperature control systems, drives, and instrumentation.
Provide on-site technical support to customers and liaise with internal engineering teams.
Complete all site documentation, reports, and commissioning records to required standards.
Occasionally support service and maintenance projects as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Electrical and/or Mechanical qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent).
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
Proven handsâon experience with mechanical assemblies, drives, pumps, and control systems.
Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, and water systems.
Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, inverters, and temperature control instrumentation.
Experience with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs (other brands considered).
Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic IT systems.
Desirable (Training Provided Where Needed)
Knowledge of vacuum systems or highâtemperature processing equipment.
Ability to modify PLC programs based on engineering team instructions.
