First Achieve's engineering department are recruiting for a Quality Engineer to support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS), with a primary focus on ISO 9001 Quality Management.
This is a key role within the HSEQ function, responsible for maintaining compliance, driving assurance activities, and supporting operational excellence across projects, suppliers, and internal processes.
Purpose of the Role
The Quality Engineer will support the effective operation of the IMS by delivering audits, managing nonconformance and CAPA processes, and ensuring quality standards are embedded across all operational activities. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and contributes to quality culture development across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- IMS Support & Governance
- Develop, review, and maintain IMS procedures, quality plans, and work instructions
- Ensure document control and records are maintained in line with ISO 9001 requirements
- Support ongoing IMS compliance and improvement activities
- Audit & Assurance
- Plan and conduct internal and supplier audits
- Record, track, and close nonconformities
- Support external certification and customer audits
- Nonconformance & CAPA
- Manage nonconformance reporting processes
- Lead and support root cause analysis activities
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified
- Risk & Operational Support
- Support quality planning and verification of controls
- Conduct inspections and assurance activities across operations
- Data & Reporting
- Maintain QMS data integrity
- Produce monthly quality reports and support KPI dashboards
- Training & Culture
- Deliver quality inductions and briefings
- Promote quality awareness across all departments
- Continuous Improvement
- Apply CI tools including 5 Whys, Fishbone, and A3 methodology
- Support process improvement initiatives
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Operations, Procurement, and other functions to embed quality standards
Development Opportunity
This role provides a structured development pathway within the HSEQ function. Subject to performance and competence, progression into a HSEQ Coordinator role is available, with expanded responsibility across Health, Safety, and Environmental management.
Development support includes mentoring, training, and access to professional qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, and CQI certifications.
Person Specification
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Quality or IMS-related roles
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO requirements
- Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills
Desirable
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification
- CQI membership
- Experience with QMS/ERP systems (e.g. Infor M3, Q-Pulse or similar)
