First Achieve Engineering are recruiting on behalf of their client for an experienced Fabrication & Welding Chargehand to join a busy and growing engineering business.
The Role
As Fabrication & Welding Chargehand, you'll lead from the front, overseeing day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on with fabrication and welding activities. You'll be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while supporting and motivating the workshop team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of fabricators and welders.
- Ensure all fabrication and welding work is completed to specification and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
- Carry out and oversee fabrication activities using a range of workshop equipment and machinery.
- Perform welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
- Utilise MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
- Monitor workflow and assist in achieving production targets and project deadlines.
- Conduct quality inspections and address any issues promptly.
- Maintain a safe working environment and promote health & safety best practices.
- Work closely with management and production teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Time-served Fabricator/Welder with proven industry experience.
- Previous Chargehand, Team Leader, Supervisory, or Senior Fabricator/Welder experience desirable.
- Strong fabrication background with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Experience working with steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
