First Achieve Engineering are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, high-precision manufacturing business with operations across the UK and Europe. We are looking for an experienced Stores & Logistics Lead to take ownership of the stores function at the Basildon site. This is a hands-on leadership role, supporting manufacturing operations through accurate stock control, efficient logistics processes, and strong team leadership.
The Role
- Oversee all stores and logistics operations at the Basildon facility
- Receive and check deliveries for quantity, revision, condition, and certification compliance
- Ensure FIFO stock rotation and inventory accuracy
- Launch materials into manufacturing in line with job cards
- Despatch materials to sub-contractors with correct documentation
- Arrange despatch of finished goods to customers, selecting appropriate carriage methods
- Ensure all materials are packaged correctly to prevent transit damage
- Maintain accurate stock location control to minimise loss or damage
- Ensure inventory accuracy within the WMS
- Manage non-BOM items, KANBAN systems, and min/max stock levels
- Monitor expiry dates, EOL programmes, and excess & obsolete risk
- Work closely with the Purchasing team to resolve receipt issues
- Complete weekly cycle counts and support annual stock takes
- Load and unload goods as required
- Support and lead a small stores team

You’ll be a proactive and organised stores or logistics professional with experience in a manufacturing environment and the confidence to lead from the front.

- Strong working knowledge of WMS principles
- Confident communicator at all levels
- Able to build effective working relationships internally and externally
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
Skills & Experience
- Experience leading a small operational team
- Strong background in stock control, goods-in, picking, and issuing to work orders
- Counterbalance forklift licence
- Full UK driving licence (manual)
