Job Purpose:
Director level role based out of London with the purpose to assist in the execution of Real Estate Finance transactions in UK for CIB clients of the Bank as well as ongoing management of the existing real estate loan portfolio. Will work closely with the Corporate and Financial Institutions coverage teams in UK/Europe/UAE and Real Estate Finance team in UK/UAE.
Key Accountabilities:
- The role encompasses, assisting the execution of new real estate transactions, managing the bank's existing real estate loan portfolio, and other GCF related financings. This will involve:
- Assist in assessing, structuring, and executing new deals along with the relevant coverage, product & credit teams
- Day to day portfolio management, transaction monitoring and support
- Work with internal and external counsel during the documentation process of loans
- Work with third party vendors in securing property valuations, surveys, insurance reviews and property condition reports
- Thoroughly review the existing CRE loan book in the UK and identify opportunities to secure existing loans business through a combination of refinance and restructuring
- Build a platform for growth such that we are ready for new business when green lighted by the appropriate authorities to do so
- Working with other market leaders on transactions and further enhancing FAB’s profile in the UK debt market
- Working on internal reporting, MIS requirements and support the Head of REF in strategic initiatives
- Help contributed to the LCM REF budget in addition to being alive to opportunities in our GM, Agency & DCM businesses
- Assist in the collection and processing of client information where relevant to satisfy the branch’s KYC requirements.
Budgets and Plans
- Contribute to the preparation of the sub-departmental budget and monitor the section’s cost ratio and make the Head of Real Estate Finance aware of performance gaps with suggestions to rectify and improve performance.
Internal Collaboration
- Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with Coverage partners (Corporate & Investment Banking, FIG, Corporate Banking, New Client Acquisition) across the bank in order to maximize product development & revenue generation opportunities.
- Develop service level targets and manage the coordination of the section with other departments to meet service expectations.
Policies, Systems, Processes, & Procedures
- Implement departmental policies, systems, and procedure so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality and cost-effective service.
MIS and Reports
- Supervise and provide inputs in the preparation of timely and accurate sub-departmental statements and reports (esp. the Underwriting & Sales Report) to meet FAB’s and departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
Qualification:
Knowledge & Experience:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in managing and facilitating structured finance transactions in a banking environment.
- Knowledge of structured finance and FAB’s products and business strategies.
- Understanding and working knowledge of international real estate debt markets and syndicated loan & debt capital market.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand financing structures based on the current & expected market conditions.
- Ability to multi-task with strong credit, structuring and LMA/LSTA documentation.
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to exercise good judgment which balances needs of client, investors and FAB.
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements.
- Ability to work under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to build and develop strategic relationships.
