Our client in Bristol is looking for an Assistant Tax Manager and Tax Manager for their Personal Tax Team. Remote work is available during and post covid.
The successful applicant will need to be a strong and ambitious portfolio manager responsible for their own portfolio of high net worth private clients dealing with everything from compliance to advisory needs. Reporting will be to the Partners, Director and Senior Manager. You will also be required to assist with the management of the group including supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff.
The role includes managing all the related and complex aspects of the tax affairs of a variety of high net worth private clients, including non-UK domiciliaries. Experience of internationally mobile individuals and employees, residence and domicile, including the statutory residence test and the remittance basis would be very useful. There is also the opportunity to become involved with other tax related projects outside of the individual's normal portfolio responsibilities, assisting in one-off tax advisory projects, writing articles or briefing notes for publications as well as assisting with other business development activities and presentations.
The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in tax and will have relevant strong experience in a personal tax role and currently operating in the capacity as a manager or assistant manager. Experience of running a tax compliance portfolio, including organising the delivery of work, problem solving and the ability to use your own initiative is essential, with the experience of sole trader accounts preparation and preparing computations from accounts being desirable. Previous experience of using computerised accounts or tax packages is useful. The firm uses CCH Central.
The successful applicant will require confidence in dealing with partners and clients, excellent organisation and interpersonal skills, the ability to provide accurate work in a timely and cost-effective manner and comfortable at working under pressure to tight deadlines within an ambitious team. With this role, come the pre-requisites that the candidate is motivated, committed and flexible with the ability to meet deadlines. A natural team player is essential, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Candidates should be educated to at least A level, ideally degree level and will have obtained a relevant professional qualification i.e. CTA/ACA/ICAS.
