About the Role
As a Credit Control Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting our finance team by ensuring timely recovery of outstanding payments. Reporting to the Credit Control Manager, you'll be the first point of contact for customers in arrears, helping to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively contact customers via phone, email, and letter to recover overdue payments
- Negotiate and agree payment plans, ensuring timely follow-up
- Escalate bad debt cases to the Credit Control Lead for further action
- Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to manage accounts effectively
- Process credit checks, calculate deposits, and issue refunds where appropriate
- Administer small claims court submissions and customer isolations in line with procedures
- Support the Credit Control Manager and team with additional duties as required
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and confident in communication. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including English & Maths, or 2+ years experience in a credit control role
- Experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Previous exposure to credit control or customer billing
- Strong ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
