My client is a well-established retail packaging manufacturer, who have been established for over 40 years. They employ over 100 personnel in the design, manufacture, and distribution of packing products, working with major global, blue-chip brands. Due to business expansion, my client is recruiting for a highly competent and motivated Estimating & Procurement Manager to lead their cost estimation and purchasing function.
Role Overview: Our client is seeking a highly competent and motivated Estimating & Procurement Manager to lead their cost estimation and purchasing function, reporting to the Operations Director. This role involves managing a team of three professionals, overseeing accurate and timely quotations, strategic purchasing, supplier relations, and delivering data-driven production and procurement reports.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed, accurate job estimates for printed packaging products based on customer specifications, materials, machine capabilities, and client’s requirements.
- Ensure estimates are accurate and aligned with company strategy and market benchmarks.
- Liaise with sales, customer service, and production teams to support client quote requests.
- Develop and maintain pricing models, factoring in production time, materials, machine usage, waste, and other variable costs.
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best value in terms of cost, quality, and service levels.
- Work closely with production data and strategic purchasing insights to senior management.
- Comply with all certification requirements.
Suitable Candidate:
- Previous supervisory experience is essential.
- Previous experience working within a commercial field, ideally purchasing, and estimating.
- Experience of working within the packaging sector is desirable.
- Experience of supplier negotiations, or a willingness to learn appropriate techniques and practices for day-to-day supplier interaction.
Benefits: 25 days holidays + 8 Bank holidays, Company Pension up to 3%, Long service award, Cycle to work scheme, employee discounts etc.
Hours: Monday - Friday. 37.5 hours per week. Some flexibility regarding start/finish times, minimum 7.5 hrs per day excluding lunch time. Suitable candidates must live within 1 hr commute and have access to their own transport.
