The Kit Kemp Design Studio is known for creating colourful and tailored interiors that combine craftsmanship and contemporary sophistication. Our projects are based worldwide, ranging from design for Firmdale Hotels’ award-winning interiors to elegant homes on the French Riviera and large real estate in Palm Desert.
Working as part of the Design team, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for sourcing, procuring and coordinating the delivery of furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, decorative lighting, artwork, accessories and interior finishes in all UK based and international projects.
Role Overview
This role requires a highly organised and commercially minded individual who can balance creative aspirations with budgetary requirements, whilst building strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers for both the UK and the US. The successful candidate will work closely with our designers, suppliers and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the exceptional standards synonymous with the Firmdale brand. The team works with ESTIPC software so a knowledge of this would be good.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Procurement
- Source furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, decorative lighting, artwork, accessories and specialist interior finishes for luxury hospitality and residential projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, artisans and specialist makers across the UK, Europe and US.
- Identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities that align with Firmdale's design standards and aesthetic.
- Obtain quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
- Coordinate product sampling and approvals with the Design team.
- Ensure all purchases meet project specifications and quality expectations.
- Project Coordination
- Support the Senior Management team in delivering projects from concept through to completion.
- Develop and manage procurement schedules and project timelines.
- Coordinate supplier information, quotations, specifications and delivery schedules.
- Provide regular updates to Directors and Associates regarding procurement progress, risks and opportunities.
- Forecast and proactively communicate risks to project delivery.
- Troubleshoot supplier and delivery challenges whilst maintaining project momentum.
- Commercial Management
- Support the management of project budgets and expenditure.
- Monitor procurement spend and identify opportunities for efficiencies and savings.
- Produce regular procurement updates and reports for the Head of Design.
- Ensure purchasing activities are carried out in line with company policies and budget approvals.
- Supplier Management
- Conduct supplier reviews and maintain preferred supplier relationships.
- Monitor market trends, new products and emerging suppliers.
- Ensure suppliers consistently deliver to Firmdale's standards of quality and service.
- Manage warranty and aftercare issues where applicable.
- Collaboration
- Partner closely with Interior Designers to ensure procurement decisions support the overall design vision.
- Work collaboratively with Property, Operations and Finance teams.
- Support project planning meetings and provide procurement expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualification & Experience
- Demonstrable procurement and sourcing experience within luxury hospitality, high-end residential or interior design sectors.
- ESTIPC software experience.
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers across both the United Kingdom and United States is essential.
- Strong knowledge of furniture, fabrics, decorative lighting, artwork, wallcoverings and specialist finishes.
- Experience managing projects through multiple stages from concept to completion.
- Financial understanding of project costs and budget awareness.
- Impeccable and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
