Role overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our team. Experience of Emergency lights, AOV & smoke vents would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and residential sites. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair
- Perform routine inspections, servicing, and corrective maintenance on fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Diagnose system faults, identify root causes, and carry out timely repairs.
- Testing & Compliance
- Conduct functional and integrity testing on all fire detection and alarm equipment.
- Ensure systems comply with relevant standards (e.g., BS 5839, NFPA, or local codes) and customer specifications.
- Maintain clear and accurate service reports, test sheets, and compliance documentation.
- Customer Interaction
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and technical details to clients in a clear and professional manner.
- Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers as needed.
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades or additional services.
- Health & Safety
- Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices at all times.
- Ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience servicing fire alarm or life safety systems.
- Strong knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm panels (e.g., Morley, Gent, Siemens, Honeywell, Advanced, Kentec, Ctec Fike, EMS, Hyfire).
- Understanding of fire detection principles, wiring, and electronic circuits.
- AOV maintenance would be an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in fire alarm systems or electrical engineering.
- FIA (Fire Industry Association) training or equivalent.
- Experience working with additional life safety systems (e.g., emergency lighting, suppression systems).
