Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Alarm Installation Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of small-scale fire detection and alarm system projects across a variety of commercial & residential sites. This is a field-based role requiring technical expertise, customer interaction, and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and test fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839-1 and client requirements
- Carry out small works installations, including modifications and upgrades to existing systems
- Complete detailed job reports, commissioning certificates, and handover documentation
- Liaise effectively with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders
- Ensure work is completed within budget and timeline, maintaining high-quality standards
- Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers or apprentices, if required
- Participate in training and development sessions to maintain up-to-date knowledge of systems and regulations
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in installing and commissioning fire alarm systems
- Strong knowledge of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety standards
- Familiarity with key fire alarm systems such as Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Apollo, Hochiki, etc.
- Full UK driving license
- ECS or CSCS Card
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications:
- FIA Units 1, 4, or equivalent fire systems qualifications
- Experience with emergency lighting systems or additional life safety systems
- IPAF / PASMA / Asbestos Awareness certification
- Electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation)
