Fireslug Studios is working on a new video game project and are looking to expand the team.
Note: At Fireslug Studios our entire team is working remotely on a voluntary basis, and intend to offer paid in-house or freelance roles once we are able to secure substantial funding or on successful project release. We provide references and opportunities for portfolio development to those looking to build a career in the wider industry. Additionally, we arrange for sharing elements of your contributions professionally, subject to our non-disclosure agreement (NDA), regardless of the project’s completion state.
Responsibilities
- Asset Production: Design and produce high quality, visually cohesive 2D UI assets such as menus, icons, HUD elements, buttons, and typography that align with the game’s visual identity and design goals.
- Integrate Completed UI Assets: Participate in the integration of finalized art assets using Git and Unity, ensuring they are correctly implemented.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with game designers, programmers and other artists to ensure there is consistency across asset contributions.
- Strong portfolio showcasing relevant UI and UX skills and experience.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of visual hierarchy, readability, colour theory, and layout composition for interactive interfaces.
- Familiarity with Unity game engine.
- Ability to iterate quickly and adapt designs based on feedback.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience implementing and editing UI assets in Unity.
- Experience producing UI animations and transitions using Unity.
- Experience with project management software such as Trello, Jira, or ClickUp.
- Familiarity with version control software, such as Git or Bitbucket.
- Graphic design experience, including marketing materials and in-game branding.
Commitment
- Minimum of 16 hours per week or equivalent contributions. Flexible work hours as long as we are well informed.
- Able to attend and contribute to weekly meetings.
- Available to respond to questions and queries from the rest of the team within a reasonable timeframe.
- Profit-Sharing Opportunity: Opportunity to earn a percentage of the project\’s profits upon successful completion. This profit-sharing arrangement is designed to reward contributions and align the team’s success with the project’s success.
