Location: Bristol, Gloucester, or Cheltenham (with coverage of Midlands and South West)
Reports to: Commercial Director
What You’ll Do:
- As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be at the forefront of expanding our fire safety solutions across the Midlands and South West.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers in the fire safety industry.
- Drive new business opportunities in design fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, suppression systems, service contracts, and fire safety consultancy.
- Work closely with our internal team to ensure seamless service delivery and to prepare tenders, proposals, and sales contracts.
- Research market trends and identify potential areas for business expansion.
- Stay ahead of the competition and offer innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
- Use CRM systems (e.g., SIMPRO) to track activities and keep the client database up-to-date.
- Collaborate with the sales support and technical teams to meet customer requirements and provide expert advice.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by proactively addressing issues and maintaining positive relationships.
- Regularly review and report on sales performance to the Commercial Director.
- Ensure all activities comply with ISO9001 NSI GOLD standards.
- Assist with project handovers and provide necessary technical support.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in fire safety sales, including design fire alarm systems (BS5839 Part 1 and 6), emergency lighting (BS5266), fire extinguishers, suppression systems, and service contracts.
- Experience managing large accounts and a sales pipeline.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical products in a simple, clear way.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to generate new business and meet targets.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A passion for customer service and building long-term relationships.
- Knowledge of passive fire protection.
- Experience in using field service management systems.
- Familiarity with SLAs, KPIs, and understanding the fire safety industry’s regulatory standards.
