Role Overview:

As the Lead Mobile Engineer, you’ll spearhead the design and development process to shape the application architecture, build seamless customer experiences, and set the foundation for our mobile-first approach. This is an exceptional opportunity to build something truly impactful from the ground up.

Your responsibilities will include defining the application architecture, designing and developing the initial solution, and creating a smooth migration strategy from our current customer servicing processes. Your full-stack engineering expertise will be critical for connecting the app to the backend services and orchestrating flexible customer journeys for our whitelabel solutions. You will ensure an exceptional user experience. This is a high-impact, leadership role with the freedom to define and execute our mobile-first strategy. This is a remote role, but occasional travel to Manchester or London will be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design: Define the technical architecture for our mobile app, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability. Work with the CTO to select the appropriate frameworks, tools, and languages.
  • Development Leadership: Build the app from scratch, including designing the front-end and integrating it with the backend systems. Use modern development frameworks and libraries to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • UX Excellence: Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to craft a seamless, intuitive user experience that aligns with UX best practices and customer needs.
  • Migration Strategy: Plan and execute the migration from existing manual customer processes to an automated, app-driven experience.
  • Deployment Strategy: Define and implement a robust deployment pipeline, including CI/CD processes for mobile app releases across platforms.
  • Full-Stack Development: Work on both the mobile front-end and backend APIs, ensuring smooth data flow and integration with cloud services.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor other developers, establish best practices, and contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure the app meets fintech compliance requirements and industry standards for security.

Requirements:

  • You Should Apply If : 5+ years of mobile development experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior role. Experience building Fintech applications is essential.
  • Mobile Development Expertise: Proven experience with building mobile apps from scratch using Flutter, Dart and Firebase.
  • Full-Stack Engineering Skills: Strong knowledge of backend development, including designing and integrating RESTful APIs, as well as database management (SQL/NoSQL).
  • UX Design Best Practices: Deep understanding of mobile UX/UI design principles and experience collaborating with design teams to deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Deployment Knowledge: Expertise in app deployment strategies for iOS and Android, including experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Fastlane, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Cloud Integration: Familiarity with cloud services like AWS and Firebase for backend integration and app hosting.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering effective and elegant solutions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with microservices architecture, journey orchestration and event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in fintech.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications for personalized user experiences.
  • Experience in A/B testing and analytics for mobile apps.
