Role Description
The Senior Fire Engineer will lead and deliver fire engineering projects, including EWS1, FRAEW assessments, fire strategies, conpartmentalisation reviews and reccomendations, technical notes and general fire engineering work for a range of buildings and clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing fire strategies in line with UK regulations, reviewing and signing off technical reports, coordinating with internal survey teams on intrusive and non-intrusive inspections, and providing clear technical guidance to clients and stakeholders. The role involves assessing façade and building fire risks, interpreting survey findings, and proposing proportionate remedial measures that support compliance and practical implementation. The Senior Fire Engineer will mentor junior team members, contribute to quality assurance processes, and support the continued development of best practice within the consultancy. This is a full-time hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, combining office work with flexibility for some work from home and occasional site visits.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in fire engineering, including fire strategy development, EWS1 and FRAEW assessments, and knowledge of UK fire safety regulations and guidance.
- Experience in façade fire safety, cladding systems, and building envelope performance in relation to fire risk.
- Proven ability to interpret survey data, prepare clear technical reports, and communicate complex fire engineering concepts to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to provide technical notes for engineered solutions
- Competence in using relevant fire engineering tools and methodologies, with a structured, analytical approach to risk assessment and compliance.
- Competence with compartmentalisation requirements
- Chartered or near-chartered status with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICE, IFE, CIBSE) or equivalent significant experience in a senior fire engineering role.
- Experience working in a consultancy environment, including project management, client liaison, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce concise, high-quality documentation under time constraints.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including mentoring less experienced engineers and contributing to internal standards and procedures.
- Relevant degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services or Structural Engineering
Salary: £65,000 - £95,000 per annum subject to experiance and qualifications
