VACANCY – Fire Sprinkler Project Manager

Fire Defence Servicing is on the lookout for a motivated Project Manager to join our expanding team.

At FDS, we specialise in the installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems across residential, commercial and retail properties. While we’re based in North Devon, our projects span the South, South West and South Wales, and we also work nationwide.

Job Summary

The Fire Sprinkler Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, execution, and completion of fire sprinkler installation projects. The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable industry standards, regulations, and client requirements. The Project Manager acts as the primary point of contact between clients, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management
  • Manage fire sprinkler installation projects from contract award through to completion and handover.
  • Develop project plans, programmes, and schedules to achieve delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address delays, risks, or operational issues.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation, progress reports, and client updates.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Attend project meetings, site progress meetings, and client review meetings.
  • Manage client expectations and resolve any project-related concerns professionally.
  • Identify opportunities for variation orders and additional works.

Technical & Compliance

  • Review fire sprinkler system designs, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ensure installations comply with relevant standards, including:
  • BS EN 12845
  • LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations
  • NFPA standards (where applicable)
  • Building Regulations and local authority requirements
  • Coordinate design changes and technical queries with design teams and engineers.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures are maintained throughout project delivery.

Commercial Management

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Review contract documents and manage contractual obligations.
  • Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices.
  • Monitor project profitability and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Prepare and negotiate variations and change orders.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Promote a strong health and safety culture across all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections where required.
  • Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
  • Ensure all installations meet quality standards and pass required inspections and testing.

Resource Coordination

  • Schedule installation teams and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and specialist equipment.
  • Ensure workforce competency and training requirements are maintained.
  • Support site supervisors and engineers in resolving project challenges.
  • Qualifications
  • Relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Valid CSCS card (or equivalent industry certification).
  • Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience managing fire sprinkler projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, and residential sprinkler systems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and project delivery processes.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.

Salary Range

Β£65,000.00 – Β£75,000+ per annum (depending on experience, qualifications, and project portfolio), plus vehicle allowance/ Truck, bonus scheme, pension, and other benefits.

Location

Home-based; however, monthly office meetings will be required, and weekly site visits
