Role Overview:
General Fire Technical Knowledge - You should have a generally good understanding of all things fire to have "position of strength" discussions about extinguishers, suppression, compartmentation, FRA's etc. Focus is on Fire Alarms but want client accounts to feel you as Technical Account Manager are knowledgeable of related disciplines in the Fire Industry also.
Relationship Building - Strong relationship builder to become the go-to adviser for Fire Account Manager - has looked after large and key account client types (Hospitals, Shopping Centres, Large Commercial, etc).
Sales Closing - As well as being able to build a relationship, you would know how to close a sale. Sometimes being the best person or in the right place to complete a deal or do surveys.
Organisation/Admin/IT Skills - Exciting and busy role, so need to stay on top of things and you would have the ability to put together performance/progress reports using MS Excel, etc.
Project Management - Understanding of project management delivery.
Financial/Commercial Awareness - Understanding that the idea is to make money in the role.
Technical/Fire Alarm Design - Qualified FIA in design or have Fire Detection designer/design experience, so can attend further Fire alarm/FIA courses as have designed fire systems before. You would have the experience of putting together designs and large project costing.
