Job Description

Our client, a dynamic bridging and development finance lender in London, is on the hunt for a Head of Credit. With a rapidly growing loan book and big ambitions, this is your chance to drive the underwriting division and make a significant impact on the company\’s next growth phase.

This Head of Credit role offers an attractive salary ranging from £100,000 to £130,000 per year depending on your level of experience. You\’ll have the chance to work closely with the senior management team and influence business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Steer and mentor a team of underwriters to ensure high performance.
  • Assess complex bridging and development loan applications.
  • Maintain and improve underwriting processes in line with industry best practices.
  • Act as the final sign-off for high-value or complex deals, challenging where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align underwriting strategy with business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal credit risk guidelines.
  • Liaise with brokers, valuers, solicitors, and internal teams.
  • Oversee credit paper preparation and present at credit committees.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategies.

Package and Benefits

  • Annual salary of £100,000 – £130,000 (negotiable dependent on experience).

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in bridging and / or development finance underwriting, with experience in a senior or leadership role.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK property market, lending structures, and risk management.
  • Understanding of conveyancing law and ability to interpret planning and financial statements.
  • Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
  • Proactive leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team managing many / complex cases.
  • Enjoy working in a boutique or SME environment.
  • Solid commercial awareness and sound judgement.
