This Junior Underwriter role in Coatbridge offers the chance to develop your credit assessment skills within a growing specialist property lender, with a salary of £30,000 - £35,000. You'll work closely with experienced underwriters, gaining exposure to varied property-backed transactions, including residential, commercial and semi-commercial bridging finance. Rather than remaining in a purely administrative role, you'll develop the technical knowledge and confidence to progress towards independently underwriting lending applications.

About the Company

You'll be joining a growing specialist bridging finance lender with a relationship-led approach to property funding. The business offers a collaborative environment where you'll work directly with experienced lending professionals and develop your understanding of the full loan lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment of bridging finance applications, reviewing borrower information, property security, LTV calculations and proposed exit strategies.
  • Review valuations, credit searches and supporting documentation, identifying potential lending risks and assisting with credit recommendations.
  • Manage allocated cases from initial assessment through to completion, liaising with brokers, solicitors, valuers and internal teams.
  • Develop your underwriting knowledge across first and second charge lending while maintaining accurate credit records and supporting efficient lending decisions.

About You

  • Previous experience in financial services, property finance, loan processing, case management or underwriting support.
  • Experience reviewing financial information, loan documentation or supporting lending applications.
  • Exposure to bridging finance, buy-to-let, commercial mortgages or other property-backed lending would be beneficial, although previous underwriting experience is not essential.
