Are you an experienced corporate banker who wants your work to have genuine social impact? This is a rare opportunity to join a safe, established, and well-capitalised UK Challenger Bank with a clear mission: using banking as a force for good. The bank is a recognised mission-led lender and is known for backing organisations that create positive change across communities, healthcare, education, housing and the wider social economy.
You’ll use your commercial banking expertise to support mid-market and large commercial organisations, structuring and managing facilities typically in the £5m–£15m range, within a bank that has a strong appetite to lend and a genuinely relationship-led approach to credit.
The Role
You will acquire, manage and grow a portfolio of commercial relationships, acting as a senior ambassador for the bank across the London and South East market. This is a front-foot relationship and business development role, supported by a pragmatic credit culture and an organisation that truly values long-term relationships over short-term metrics. You’ll work closely with introducers, sector bodies and professional advisers, building a strong network while deepening customer relationships and optimising income opportunities across your portfolio.
What makes this different from a traditional bank role?
- You are lending to organisations that create measurable social and environmental impact
- You’ll be part of a values-driven bank with a national reputation
- Sensible, supportive credit approach with real appetite to deploy capital
- Opportunity to manage larger, more complex mid-market corporate deals (£5m–£15m)
- High visibility role where you act as a true ambassador for the bank in the external market
- Collaborative culture where sector knowledge and relationship skills are genuinely valued
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of mid-market commercial customers
- Originate quality new lending and non-lending business aligned to the bank’s values
- Build and maintain a strong introducer and professional network
- Deepen relationships across your portfolio to maximise customer outcomes and income
- Proactively manage credit risk and identify opportunities
- Support colleagues with sector insight and relationship expertise
- Contribute to the ongoing development of products, services and customer experience
What we’re looking for
- Proven track record in commercial/corporate relationship management
- Strong business development capability within a banking environment
- Experience managing and structuring larger facilities in the £5m+ range
- Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills
- Strong financial analysis capability and credit awareness
- A desire to apply your banking experience within a mission-driven, socially impactful organisation
