Our client is a leading Invoice Finance lender currently in growth phase. They are a highly commercial business with a can-do attitude and have a real appetite to lend money. They support SMEs across a wide range of sectors, delivering fast, flexible, and tailored funding solutions designed to meet each business’s unique cash-flow needs through a variety of lending products.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join them as a Credit Underwriter. This is a fantastic role where you’ll be responsible for assessing, structuring and approving new business proposals submitted by the experienced BDM team. You'll hold your own personal underwriting mandate and will also be hands on to support larger deals. This role is central to maintaining credit quality, shaping risk appetite, and supporting portfolio growth. You’ll ensure every facility is commercially viable, appropriately structured, and aligned with policy and risk frameworks.

We’re looking for an underwriter with a strong commercial mindset and a proactive, can‑do approach. Someone who is comfortable approving well‑structured deals, not simply defaulting to ‘no’, and who brings sound risk awareness alongside the ability to balance risk and reward.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, assess and approve credit papers submitted by BDMs for new Invoice Finance and ABL facilities, up to your delegated credit authority level.
  • Make recommendations for deals outside of authority to higher mandate holders.
  • Analyse financial statements, management accounts, debtor books, and credit reports.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments of clients and their customers (debtors).
  • Liaise with the business development team to shape deal structure and mitigate risks.
  • Provide clear credit recommendations, outlining risk mitigants, facility structures, and approval conditions.
  • Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with internal policy, FCA guidelines, and risk appetite.

Requirements:

  • Experience within Invoice Finance as an experienced Relationship Manager or Underwriter
  • Strong knowledge around Invoice Finance
  • Commercially minded with a pragmatic, can‑do approach
  • Strong risk awareness with the ability to approve deals safely and constructively
  • Solutions‑focused, collaborative, and commercial attitude.
  • Confident decision‑maker who balances risk and reward effectively

Why Should You Apply?

  • Established lender with a commercial, can-do outlook
  • Growing business with opportunities for development and progression
  • Great team culture
  • Ability to drive and affect change and to have your voice heard
