This role will have a diverse set of responsibilities, with a focus on leveraging data to drive short term and longer term priorities. Responsibilities of the Portfolio Performance Analyst

  • Performance Monitoring & Analysis: Lead the ongoing monitoring and analysis of portfolio performance, focusing on key metrics such as balance growth, arrears performance and revenue repayment. Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement to drive better outcomes for the business.
  • Cohort Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain cohort-based analysis to understand the behaviour and profitability of customer groups over time. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) at the cohort level, including the drivers behind balance, loss and yield.
  • Unit Economics Forecasting: Create and manage financial models to forecast the unit economics of customer cohorts, assessing the profitability and sustainability of different segments. Work with inputs from across the business, specifically commercial and finance to create a holistic portfolio outlook.
  • Portfolio Performance Insights: Provide detailed insights into portfolio performance, focusing on customer segments, product usage, and financial outcomes. Support the commercial team to optimise the product offering and ensure the portfolio is aligned with company objectives and funding triggers.
  • Reporting & KPIs: Develop and implement robust reporting frameworks to track the performance of key metrics. Provide regular updates on portfolio performance, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Scenario Modelling & Sensitivity Analysis: Build scenario models to evaluate the potential impact of various business strategies on cohort performance and unit economics. Use sensitivity analysis to assess how changes in acquisition costs, retention rates, and product usage affect overall portfolio profitability.
  • Risk Management & Mitigation: Identify potential risks to portfolio profitability and customer outcomes. Work closely with risk management teams to ensure the portfolio remains sustainable and aligned with financial and regulatory guidelines.
  • Forecasting & Financial Impact: Lead the forecasting efforts for future portfolio performance, making recommendations based on expected changes in customer behaviour, product trends, and market conditions. Provide strategic insights into the financial impact of decisions at the portfolio level.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Communicate complex analysis and forecasts in clear, actionable terms to senior leadership and stakeholders. Present key findings, risks, and opportunities in a way that informs strategic decisions related to portfolio and cohort management.

About you

Your Experience: Strong understanding of credit cards and profitability. Strong coding skills (e.g. Python / SQL), with a focus on structure and automation. Experience building insightful MI and practical forecasting models. Good presentation skills, using the data to tell a story. Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively, communicating proactively. Excited about defining the foundations and providing insights that will influence the direction of the business.
