Our client is a commercial finance broker supporting UK SMEs with funding for growth, working capital and cash flow. They are looking for a Marketing Director to take ownership of the marketing function and help drive the next stage of the business’s growth.
The role will have a strong digital marketing focus, alongside responsibility for the wider marketing strategy, brand and communications. They need someone who can set the direction but is also happy to get involved in the detail, understands how to generate quality enquiries and can demonstrate the commercial impact of their work.
Experience within commercial finance lending or broking would be particularly valuable. Hands-on knowledge of paid search would also be a strong advantage.
The role
You will work closely with the senior leadership and sales teams to develop a marketing strategy that attracts new customers, improves conversion and supports repeat business.
This is a broad role with the opportunity to influence how the business presents itself, reaches customers and turns marketing activity into revenue.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Owning and delivering the marketing strategy, with a particular focus on digital acquisition and lead generation.
- Managing the marketing budget and measuring performance against lead quality, conversion, acquisition costs and revenue.
- Overseeing SEO, paid media, website performance, content, email marketing and social media.
- Managing paid search activity through internal resources or external agencies, identifying opportunities to improve performance and return on spend.
- Improving landing pages and the online enquiry journey to increase conversion.
- Working closely with sales to understand which enquiries convert into funded business and using that feedback to refine campaigns.
- Developing CRM and email campaigns to nurture prospects, re-engage previous enquiries and encourage repeat business.
- Taking responsibility for brand positioning, messaging and consistency across marketing materials.
- Overseeing wider activity, including PR, partnerships, referral marketing, events and sales support materials.
- Managing and developing marketing resources and external agency relationships.
- Providing clear reporting and recommendations to the leadership team.
The person
Our client is looking for someone commercially minded, proactive and comfortable taking ownership. You should be able to combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and understand how marketing supports a sales-led business.
You will ideally bring:
- A strong track record in a senior marketing role, with significant digital marketing and lead generation experience.
- Experience within commercial finance lending or broking, or a closely related financial services business.
- Evidence of delivering measurable growth through customer acquisition, improved conversion and retention.
- A broad understanding of marketing beyond digital, including brand, content, communications and partnerships.
- Experience managing budgets, agencies and marketing teams or specialist resources.
- Confidence using data, CRM systems and reporting tools to assess performance and guide decisions.
- The ability to work closely with sales and build strong relationships across the business.
- A hands-on approach and the willingness to get into the detail when needed.
Practical experience of paid search, particularly Google Ads, would be a strong advantage, although it is not essential if you have experience overseeing specialist delivery.
