An opportunity to do build something new within an established, well-capitalised challenger bank with a strong balance sheet, clear strategic direction and ambitious but considered growth plans.
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Development Finance lender to help develop and grow its offering across residential and commercial development finance.
With a strategy to double the size of the bank by 2030, whilst maintaining their strong social impact/purpose-led approach, this is an exciting time to join a business that combines commercial ambition with a genuine purpose.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role offering the opportunity to help shape and develop something new within an existing and established Bank.
You'll take ownership of originating, structuring and delivering development finance transactions, typically £5m+, while helping to influence the future direction of the proposition, including product development, lending policy and appetite.
This isn't simply about managing an established portfolio or working within a rigid framework. The bank is looking for someone who can bring market knowledge, relationships, ideas and commercial judgement, and who is comfortable taking ownership and making things happen.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop a pipeline of residential and commercial development finance opportunities, typically £5m+.
- Structure and deliver complex lending transactions, managing deals from initial opportunity through to completion and exit.
- Build relationships with developers, investors, intermediaries and professional introducers.
- Identify opportunities to grow the bank's presence and establish its reputation in the development finance market.
- Contribute to the development of products, lending policy, processes and the wider proposition.
- Work closely with Credit, Risk and other internal teams to deliver well-structured, commercially sound transactions.
- Maintain strong portfolio oversight and ensure lending delivers both quality financial outcomes and positive impact.
What We're Looking For
- An established Development Finance lender with a proven track record of originating and structuring transactions.
- Experience of residential and/or commercial development finance, ideally involving facilities of £5m+.
- Strong market relationships and the ability to generate new business opportunities.
- Excellent structuring, credit and commercial judgement.
- Someone entrepreneurial, proactive and comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
- The confidence and appetite to help shape a developing proposition and influence product and policy.
- A genuine interest in responsible lending and the wider social and economic impact of development finance.
Why Consider It?
- Join an established challenger bank with a strong balance sheet and robust lending appetite.
- Be part of an ambitious but considered strategy to double the size of the bank by 2030.
- Play a meaningful role in doubling the bank's social impact.
- Help create and shape something new within an existing lending business.
- Genuine opportunity to influence product, policy and the future direction of the proposition.
- High-profile, autonomous role with significant scope to make an impact.
- Birmingham, Manchester, Yorkshire or Scotland location.
- Attractive salary and an excellent wider benefits package.
