A fantastic opportunity to join a successful, well-funded SME lender as it launches into the Yorkshire market. Our client is an established lender with a strong track record, a respected brand and significant blue-chip investment supporting the next phase of its growth. As part of that expansion, they are now entering Yorkshire for the first time and are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to become their first boots on the ground locally. This is not about inheriting an established patch. You’ll have the opportunity to build it.

The role involves working directly in the Yorkshire market, responsible for originating new business, developing relationships with business owners and professional contacts, and bringing the full breadth of our client’s lending proposition to the region. The lending proposition includes:

  • Merchant cash advances
  • Unsecured business loans
  • Bridging finance
  • Development finance
  • Secured business lending
  • Bespoke funding solutions

Deal sizes range from approximately £50k to £5m, depending on the product, transaction and structure. You’ll have the backing of an established lender, experienced credit and underwriting teams, a broad product proposition and the autonomy to develop your own network and market presence.

What we're looking for: This role would suit an experienced commercial finance BDM, relationship manager or lender who already has a strong network in Yorkshire and knows how to generate and convert quality SME lending opportunities. You’ll ideally bring:

  • A strong track record in SME/commercial lending
  • Strong relationships with business owners and professional contacts
  • A proven ability to originate business directly to market
  • Commercial confidence and strong relationship-building skills
  • The credibility to represent an established lending brand in a new territory
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to developing a market

Why this opportunity?

  • Be first in. You’ll be the first member of the local team, with genuine scope to shape how the business develops across Yorkshire.
  • Build something. An office is being established in Leeds, with the team expected to grow as the Yorkshire operation develops.
  • Strong backing. Join an established SME lender with significant blue-chip investment supporting its next phase of growth.
  • Broad lending appetite. A diverse product range means you can find solutions across a wide variety of SME funding requirements.
  • Career progression. As the Yorkshire operation scales, there is a genuine opportunity to grow with it and play a significant role in shaping the regional team.
  • Competitive package. Good basic salary, attractive bonus and benefits package.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who knows the Yorkshire commercial finance market, has the relationships to make an immediate impact and wants the opportunity to build a territory rather than simply manage an existing patch.
