Contract: Full-time, permanent
Our client is seeking an experienced Equity Investment Manager to originate, appraise, execute and manage equity investments of up to £5 million in high-growth SMEs. The role will involve developing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee and supporting portfolio companies throughout their growth journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building a strong pipeline of investment opportunities
- Developing relationships with advisers, banks, lawyers, accelerators and co-investors
- Reviewing business plans, financial models and investment proposals
- Undertaking commercial, financial, market and management due diligence
- Assessing valuations, funding structures and investment risks
- Preparing and presenting investment recommendations
- Negotiating and completing investment transactions
- Managing a portfolio of investee companies
- Supporting management teams with growth and value-creation initiatives
- Developing and executing exit strategies
- Maintaining accurate investment records and supporting fund reporting, governance and compliance
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in equity investment, venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, investment banking, M&A or growth capital
- Experience assessing and executing SME investments
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment appraisal skills
- Experience presenting to investment or credit committees
- Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience supporting portfolio companies and value-creation initiatives
Experience within regional development funds, venture capital or impact investing would be advantageous, as would an ACA, ACCA, CFA, ICAEW or equivalent qualification. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established investment team and support ambitious businesses across the South West.
