Role Overview
The Debt Sale Strategy Manager will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimising the strategy for the sale of delinquent consumer credit card debt. This is a critical role within our business, working closely with internal stakeholders, external debt buyers, and third-party collection agencies to maximize the recovery of outstanding debt while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities of the Debt Sale Strategy Manager
Debt Sale Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement strategies for the sale of delinquent credit card debt, optimizing portfolio pricing, timing, and risk management.
- Continuously assess and refine debt sale models based on performance data, customer behavior insights, and market conditions.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with external debt buyers, collection agencies, and other third-party partners to ensure the efficient and profitable sale of debt.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Risk, Collections, Compliance, and Finance, to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyse portfolio performance, including collections rates, recovery metrics, and sale performance to drive data-backed decisions.
- Develop regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting debt sale outcomes, opportunities for improvement, and market trends.
Market Research & Vendor Evaluation:
- Stay informed about the debt sale landscape, including emerging trends, regulations, and competitor activities.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of third-party debt purchasers, ensuring they meet company standards for compliance, ethical practices, and financial performance.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure that all debt sale activities comply with relevant UK regulations, industry best practices, and internal policies.
- Identify and mitigate any risks associated with the debt sale process, including reputational, financial, and operational risks.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of debt sale activities.
- Leverage technology and analytics to improve the predictive accuracy of debt sale models and identify new opportunities for optimization.
Key Requirements of the Debt Sale Strategy Manager
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in debt sale strategy, collections, or a related role within the consumer finance, banking, or fintech industries.
- Strong understanding of debt sale processes, portfolio management, and risk analysis.
- Familiarity with UK debt collection and consumer credit regulations (e.g., FCA, GDPR).
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making and portfolio management.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage external relationships effectively.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, with experience in financial modeling and performance reporting.
- Knowledge of debt sale platforms and vendor management.
Education:
- Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
