Lead and shape critical finance operations for a growing Services division, driving cash performance, accuracy and continuous improvement within a centralised Group Finance function.

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role within the Group Finance Team, leading core finance operations that support the Services division. Initially focused on Billing, Sales Ledger and Credit Control, you will ensure effective cash collection, accurate invoicing and a high standard of service to Members and internal stakeholders. The role offers scope to broaden into additional shared service functions as the centralised finance model evolves, and is well suited to someone who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and motivated to drive continuous improvement across processes, systems and team performance.

What you’ll do

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead the Billing and Credit Control teams within the Services division
    • Manage and support team members, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment
    • Set clear objectives aligned to Finance and Group goals
    • Identify skills gaps and support development through coaching and training
    • Encourage accountability, engagement and continuous improvement
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee billing, collections, cash allocation and ledger control
    • Reduce aged debt through effective credit control processes
    • Ensure Direct Debit processes are managed accurately and in line with timelines
    • Maintain accurate ledgers and regular reconciliations
    • Support month‑end, forecasting and year‑end activities
  • Process, Systems & Improvement
    • Drive continuous improvement across Finance Services
    • Streamline Order‑to‑Cash (OtC) processes with stakeholders
    • Lead system and process enhancements (e.g. Dynamics, Sage Intacct)
    • Maintain and apply finance policies and procedures
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong working relationships across Finance, Services and the wider Group
    • Deliver a high standard of service to internal stakeholders and Members
    • Act as a key contact for escalations and finance‑related queries
  • Performance, Controls & Reporting
    • Monitor KPIs (collections, billing accuracy, productivity)
    • Support financial control reporting
    • Analyse trends to identify improvements
    • Develop reporting and MI to support decision‑making

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Finance leadership experience in a shared services environment
  • Strong academic background including Maths
  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA (part or fully qualified) – desirable
  • Strong background in Billing, Sales Ledger and Credit Control
  • Experience in high‑volume, deadline‑driven environments
  • Track record of process improvement and change delivery
  • Familiarity with systems such as Dynamics, Sage Intacct or similar
  • Direct Debit experience, including compliance and collections
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management
  • Good understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong Excel and IT skills

Desirable Skills

  • BACS experience
  • Experience working in multi‑entity or acquisitive business environments

  • This is a hybrid role. You’ll work from our Huddersfield office with your team 3 days each week.
  • Free parking onsite
  • Occasional travel to other group sites may be required
