Location: Head Office, remote or hybrid (to be agreed), site visits and on-site across the UK as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage detailed cost estimates for complex marine infrastructure projects including ports, harbours, piers, docks, and coastal defence works.
- Coordinate bid preparations, liaise with engineering and operations teams, and ensure alignment with project timelines and client expectations.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, review quotations, conduct site visits, and maintain strategic relationships to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Mentor and oversee a team of estimators, fostering professional development and consistent quality outputs.
- Implement best estimating practices, support process improvements, and promote the innovative use of technology within the estimating function.
- Work closely with internal teams to contribute to feasibility assessments, risk analysis, and value engineering.
- Provide market insights and strategic input for pricing and bid strategies.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 5+ years' experience in a senior estimating role within marine civil, heavy civil, or marine infrastructure projects.
- Proven expertise in estimating for ports, harbours, dredging, marine piles, and coastal defences.
- Strong understanding of marine construction methodologies, environmental considerations, and relevant materials.
- Experience with bid coordination, subcontractor management, and team leadership.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project planning software, with the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree are preferred but not essential.
- Driving Licence, CSCS Card, and knowledge of NEC contracts are advantageous.
