Engineering Director – Job Overview

FINTEC recruit is supporting the recruitment for an Engineering Director for a new and exciting opportunity in the UK. This permanent role works remotely with travel around the UK. The salary is up to £125k plus benefit and a bonus package.

About the role

We’re looking for a hands‑on Engineering Director to lead technical direction for HV/EHV OHTL projects across the region. This high‑visibility role works directly with utilities, EPCs, and senior stakeholders to shape system upgrades and capacity updates.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design + analysis for OHTL projects
• Work with utilities to solve complex engineering challenges
• Support BD with senior‑level technical input
• Develop concepts, feasibility studies, and proposals with global teams
• Evaluate pilot projects (modelling, optimisation, risk)
• Review designs, reports, and specs
• Act as regional technical owner — pathway to Regional CTO/Chief Engineer

Skills and Experience

• Strong HV/EHV OHTL design experience
• Ability to define problems + deliver robust solutions
• Hands‑on design mindset, not purely management
• Clear communicator in senior utility meetings
